IDIIL Program(s): Math/English/ Academic After-School |

Words from the Winner: On April 22, 2007 I got a star Achievement Award in IDIIL. I was so happy about it. I have hated math since…well…for as long as I can remember. Now I don’t hate math so much and really I have to thank Jia for encouraging me because she helped me see that math isn’t that bad. And I have to thank my friends in IDIIL for being nice to me. Mostly I think the best thing in IDIIL is everyone in it, such as the IDIIL kids, teachers, and the ones who check our work. I think I should thank Jomei too. IDIIL is like a fun paradise!
Teacher’s Comments: Carmen is a third grader who always comes to IDIIL with the best attitude to learn. She never liked math very much, but was still very willing to keep at it. Now, she is getting much better at her math work and I am very proud of her progress!
Reasons for Being Selected: The IDIIL Star Award for Best Attitude is typically given to only those students who consistently approach all tasks and situations with a positive outlook, whether it be in completing their own academic work, helping their peers, offering assistance to teachers or other students, or simply adding an overall, good feeling to the general environment of the classroom. |
